Bill’s ANSWER: Okay so I'm pretty sure this was Jesus, Peter, Abraham, and Elijah. I think there was one more disciple, but he didn't put his foot in his mouth like peter did. Maybe it was john or andrew?
Mom got it right! Here’s the answer. 3 Apostles went with Jesus up the mountain. They were the big 3: Peter, James and John. (Whenever only 3 Apostles are mentioned in the NT, it's always Peter, James and John.) So that's 4 persons. When Jesus was transfigured ("His face shown like the sun, and his garments became white as light."), Moses and Elijah appeared, talking to Jesus. So that's 6 persons. Peter was so freaked out, he appears to blurt out, "It is well that we are here, if you wish, I will make 3 booths here: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah. Then the Father said, "This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to Him." Of course, that puts the big 3 flat on their faces. No more building plans. Just down flat. So that's 7 persons total. And yes, the Father and Jesus are persons. The Trinity: One God, 3 Persons. Not 3 modes, or 3 roles played by a single God or 3 forms (like vapor, liquid, and ice). Those concepts of God led to some of the early heresies which had to be rejected. And that will be the topic of the Trivia #6, so you might want to brush up on a few.
